Number 46 was the Seattle Marathon on 28 November 2021. I finished in 4:52:41, 13th of 20 in my age group, 535 of 728 overall. I felt much better than I did in New Mexico, but in the end the result was not a whole lot better. I ran the first half in something like 2:10, but I guess I lost focus in the second half. The first half has a lot of time on the freeway and is pretty boring, the second half was around Lake Washington and the universtiy campus, so it was quite nice. The race started and ended in Gas plant park. We were in Seattle for Thanksgiving with Kate, Hakan and Devrim, wonderful to meet the little guy for the first time! I took and uber to the start, which went in waves due to Covid. I started pretty far back, but it turned out to be only 8 minutes after the first wave. I got to 22 miles in somewhere around 4 hours and felt ready to kick it in, but then at 24 miles the route turns into the quad at the University with a spectacular view of Rainier, so I stopped to take a few pictures. Here I am with Rainier in the background

a lady standing by the course took this shot, we tried several camera settings but nothing worked. Note to Samsung: no excuse for this complete failure of HDR. Here is a shot I took with the camera zoomed in on the mountain:

Imagine these shots together as one and you get an idea what the scene looked like to me. It took a minute to get in the mood to run again after the photo session, but I got it done. Here I am coming through the finish (thanks to Rachael, Hakan and the little guy for cheering me home and taking this shot!)

Weather was fantastic, mid 50's for the whole run. Not much to this race, way to slow but another one in the books. At the photo shot I was over 90% done with this run, now I am over 90% done with this project. 5 to go.
